Georges Seurat: "The White Coat"

I finished a study of Georges Seurat's drawing, The White Coat.

Georges Seurat, "The White Coat"
A woman, walking in a somewhat aristocratic fashion, treads past us in the pouring rain. It is unlikely that she ever noticed us, and though we have noticed her, we never caught her face. Even the back of her head is blocked by her large parasol. She is leaving us, turning away into anonymity.

The drawing is generally known as The White Coat, though perhaps "the umbrella" would have been equally fitting, or even "in the rain", given that Seurat's crayon strokes surrounding the figure seem to indicate heavy rainfall.

I especially like the way Seurat counters the white of the coat with the pitch black accents of the pocket and sleeve.
